Every measurement comes from your own phone, and from other people with the same phone model who chose to share their battery data too — nothing more specific than that.

Battery health

the headline number at the top: how much charge your battery can still hold today, compared to when it was brand new. A newer battery reads close to 100%; batteries naturally hold a little less energy every year, that’s just how they age. “You” is your phone’s number, “Community” is the typical number from others with the same model, and “Range” shows where most of those people land — if you fall inside it, you’re right in line with everyone else, not looking at a problem.

Measured capacity

the actual amount of charge your battery holds right now (in mAh), based on how your phone has really been charging and discharging.

Rated capacity

the capacity your phone’s manufacturer advertised when it was new: the “should be” number, next to “Measured capacity”‘s “actually is.” For Community, we show the single most commonly reported value rather than an average, since manufacturers usually only ever quote one official figure.

Error margin

how confident the app is in its own capacity reading, not a difference between you and everyone else. A smaller number means more charging history has gone into the estimate; it narrows the longer you use the app.

Charge cycles

one cycle is one full 0%-to-100% charge, whether that happens in one sitting or is spread across several partial charges. Roughly: how much of the battery’s rated lifespan has been used.

AC charge time

how long a full charge would take on a wall charger, based on your phone’s recent charging speed.

USB charge time

the same, but charging over a USB cable (computer, power bank, lower-power charger) — usually slower than a wall charger.

Discharge time

how long a full charge lasts under your typical day-to-day use.

Drain, screen on / Drain, screen off

two extremes, not two separate battery lives: “screen on” is how long a full charge would last if the screen stayed on the whole time; “screen off” is the same with the screen off the whole time. Real daily battery life falls somewhere between the two.

Based on N contributors

how many other people with your phone model are behind the “Community” numbers. The comparison only appears once enough people have contributed, so one unusual phone can’t skew the whole picture.

Where this data comes from

every Community number is a real measurement from real phones, shared by people who turned on “Share your battery data” in Settings. Sharing is optional and can be turned off any time; nothing shared is tied to your name, email, or device identity — only your phone model and its battery numbers.

This page explains what the numbers on the “Compare with community” screen actually mean.
